History
Founded in 2019, The Big Top Group (formerly the Contemporary Circus and Immersive Arts Center) has held acclaimed performances at venues across the city of Troy, including Prospect Park, The Arts Center of the Capital Region, YWCA of the Greater Capital Region, and even residential homes. Circus in the Park, now in its sixth year, is a beloved tradition, captivating sold-out audience and offering a free family day where guests can learn circus skills and meet the artists. We reach thousands of Capital District constituents each year through community engagements, circus camps and classes, and a variety of performances with diverse troupes. In 2025 our board has a renewed commitment to community, developing the local circus culture, and bringing new and exciting talent to the region.
Mission & Vision
The Big Top Group, is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the Circus Arts throughout the upstate region. Through educational programs and live performances, we enrich the cultural fabric of the place we live, work and play, inspire joy, and foster community connections. Our vision is to use the circus arts as a catalyst for unity and uplifting our constituents, creating an inclusive and accessible environment for all.
